Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart of Florida's 26th District expressed his satisfaction with the recent passage of legislation encompassing the first six appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. In a statement following the House's approval, Díaz-Balart highlighted the significance of the legislation in funding crucial priorities, stating, "I am pleased to support legislation that fully funds key priorities including support for our farmers, veterans, roads, and critical military projects."

Díaz-Balart emphasized the departure from previous spending habits under Democratic leadership, describing the move as a step away from "partisan, wasteful spending habits that have plagued our appropriations process." The congressman noted the potential for significant savings for American taxpayers, projecting over $200 billion in savings over the next decade while remaining under the President's Budget Request by more than $100 billion.

Reflecting on commitments made by House Republicans, Díaz-Balart underscored the party's dedication to reducing non-defense discretionary spending, prioritizing national security, and upholding fiscal responsibility. He credited Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership for delivering on these promises despite facing challenges such as a slim majority and opposition from a Democratic President and Senate.

In addition to his overall support for the legislation, Congressman Díaz-Balart highlighted specific local projects and legislative priorities that were successfully included in the appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. These initiatives aimed to address various needs within the community, including support for veterans, combating fentanyl, bolstering local law enforcement, and providing essential funding to farmers and rural communities.

The passage of the appropriations legislation for FY24 represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to allocate resources effectively and responsibly, with Congressman Díaz-Balart playing a key role in advocating for critical priorities at both the national and local levels.
